You could try a rubber shelf mat under the mat so it doesn’t slide

I was eating when you said “I made a rock” and almost choked. Haha! Anyway, a damp cloth underneath might work for rolling.
Joy you could roll your gum paste out on your counter and then add it to your mat. Just put a little shortning on your counter first ! Hope this helps !
